Shows to watch during your Summer Staycation

16 Jul

Some people opt out for relaxing staycations whether it’s at your cottage or just lounging around at home. For those scorching hot days or rainy ones, catch up on that TV series your friends have been raving about.

American Horror Story

If you’re not too chicken start this show on a night at the cottage.

Battlestar Galactica

Warning this show is ADDICTIVE, I am currently in the middle of the series, and I watch at least 4 shows every night.

Mad Men

I don’t think one needs convincing of how great this show is.

Portlandia

If you love to make fun of hipsters and the artsy folk, this is the show for you.

Flight of the Conchords

Flight of the Conchords Movie please!!!!! I didn’t think two seasons were enough, they are the adorable New Zealanders and will have you cry from laughter.

Other worthy mentions: Game of Thrones, Twin Peaks (I stopped watching in the middle of Season 2, it got really weird, but the season 1 and the first few Season 2 epis were great!), Lost and Dexter.

Beasts of the Southern Wild – WATCH IT!!!

15 Jul

This is THE movie of the year. Watching the trailer didn’t make me think this, but after hearing some good things, and Oscar buzz already; I decided to watch it this past Friday.

Make sure to bring some tissues. The acting, narration and the picturesque shots in this movie are magnificent. I don’t want to say any sort of synopsis for this movie, just watch it!! I like it when there is an Oscar contender movie released in the summer, (Hurt Locker being one of them) it’s a nice break from all the action movies.

Fantastic grabs from far away places

15 Jul

I went to Israel a couple of years ago, did not imagine that I would be coming back with two amazing camel leather bags. A beautiful country full of rich culture, breathing taking sights, and market places with unique goods to die for!

I would love to go back and just soak in sights like this.

Organizing your beauty products and accessories

26 Jun

Organizing all of your jewelry, beauty and hair accessories all in one place can be a challenge! Below are some ways I try to keep everything within my reach and neat and tidy.

This is my bowl of goodies. I keep my brushes, lipsticks, mascara, concealer all in a bowl. When I’m getting ready for work I like to have all my essentials all in one place. Having a magnifying mirror helps out a lot too.

Beside my bowl is my version of jewelry boxes. The first box has my eye liner pods, foundation and eye shadows. The second box (the faux antique book can be found at Homesense) has casual earrings, third my casual necklaces and the fourth has my sunnies, bracelets and bangles.

Compartmentalizing is key for making sure you can find things when you need and makes you feel good that not everything in your life is in disarray. I have my nail polish in one compartment, my more fancy/vintage jewelry in individual boxes, my lotions, deodorant in one area and hair bands in another.  Homesense and Ikea are great places to purchase organizing compartments. And it helps to get rid of items you no long use!

Summer colour for your nails

12 Jun

This is the time when I usually throw out my nail polish that’s all old and dried out with some new fresh ones for the summer. FYI, if there is a colour that you love and has become all crusty, there are nail polish paint thinners out there.

The mint green is from F21 for $3.80, I’ve been wearing it for a week and no chips to report.

The pink and purple are from Walmart for $2.96! I have yet to try them, since the mint green is doing so well on my nails.

The orange one is from Aldo for about $6, I wore it on a weekend when I had to do a lot of dishes, so I will need to wear it again to provide a verdict on them.

My love for asos.com

8 Jun

I love asos.com, if you have not checked out their site go now! Here are 2 leather bags I purchased from the site.

This one was around $60 CAD that I bought last year.

My love affair with asos began with this bag. This was my first leather bag and my first purchase from asos.

How could you not fall in love with a bag with tassels?!

Arrowhead earrings

3 Jun

I picked up these arrowhead earrings from Forever 21 for $4.80 (the actual store not online) the other day. I thought it was pretty edgy. Put your hair in a ponytail or a bun (have you tried doing the sock bun, if not youtube it!!) and your’re good to go.
